About the Timbershare Project
Aims:
• To use the surplus timber (larch and cedar) generated from the Cabin build to connect people to the wood and to our work
• To reduce waste and demonstrate respect for materials and resources
• To encourage the sharing of skills
• To encourage organisations supporting vulnerable adults (especially those with woodworking skills) to work in a different environment
Come for a guided walk around Harmony Woods with our graduate intern and be introduced to some of the most beautiful, rare and interesting species present there. We will be walking as one group so it is important that you arrive promptly at 9:50 am, for a 10am start.
Followed by a wood painting craft session.
Use the wildflowers (or whatever you fancy) as inspiration for painting onto some of our leftover pieces of larch and cedar (leftover from last year’s cabin frame build!). You will be able to take your creations and new wildlfower knowledge home with you :)
This is for all ages and abilities! Equipment is provided.

*‘Voices in Harmony’ has been planned jointly by both artists and Andover Trees United and will lead children and adults on a musical journey in celebration of woodlands, including the Ash Trees from which Andover partly derives its name*. Collected stories and memories together with reworkings of traditional songs will be combined into a new composition and Tree Shanty which will be performed alongside traditional folk song in Harmony Woods, accompanied by the made-audible responses of the surrounding trees.

- sessions where experienced carpenters can come to work together and help revive skills in others
- sessions where experienced practitioners can teach novices.
The timber will be provided for free and items made will benefit the wood (fences, nursery beds and
wildflower planters, benches and tables) but participants will have the opportunity to take their creations home and organisations, including ourselves, will benefit financially from saleable items.
The musical instruments will be used in performances in the wood and by the riverside in Andover, Appleshaw and Vernham Dean (see ‘Voices in Harmony’ and ‘Living by the Ash Tree Waters’).

Take part in a riverside workshop with environmental artist James Aldridge. Trial our Curious Explorer Backpacks, designed by young people, as a starting point to trigger discussion and reflection on your relationship with the river, as we walk, talk and create.
Where: Meet on King George V Playing Field next to Hurstbourne Tarrant CE Primary School
When: Thursday 12 May from 3:45 pm - 4:45 pm.
Why: To learn more about The Bourne Rivulet, also known as The River Swift, a seasonal chalk stream.

Where: River Anton in Andover - Meet by the river next to Wilko near the corner of Bridge street
When: Saturday 30th April from 1.30 pm - 3.30pm
Why: To learn more about the River Anton, which is one of only 200 chalk streams in the world
Who: All ages but children will need to be accompanied by an adult and supervised by the river
Please join us for a walk by the River Anton in Andover. A group of pupils from the newly reformed Eco Group have been working with artist James Aldridge to design ‘Nature Explorer' backpacks which will be made up by Andover Trees United thanks to grants from TVBC and through the Watercress and Winterbourne Landscape Partnership Scheme, made possible by NHLF..
Artist, James Aldridge will lead a walk along the banks of the River Anton from Bridge Street to ASDA car park and pupils and their families will have the opportunity to test out a prototype ‘Nature Explorer’ backpack - using some of the equipment which the children have decided to include!

Where: Meet on the playing fields near Appleshaw Village Hall

Why: To learn more about the Winterbourne that runs through Appleshaw at certain times of year, some years
Who: All ages but small children will need to be accompanied by an adult and supervised by the road, the pond and the bourne ditch
Please join us for a walk by the Winterbourne ditch in Appleshaw.
