About the Timbershare Project
Aims:
• To use the surplus timber (larch and cedar) generated from the Cabin build to connect people to the wood and to our work
• To reduce waste and demonstrate respect for materials and resources
• To encourage the sharing of skills
• To encourage organisations supporting vulnerable adults (especially those with woodworking skills) to work in a different environment
Activities will involve:
- sessions where existing groups come together to share skills and expertise
- sessions where experienced carpenters can come to work together and help revive skills in others
- sessions where experienced practitioners can teach novices.
The timber will be provided for free and items made will benefit the wood (fences, nursery beds and
wildflower planters, benches and tables) but participants will have the opportunity to take their creations home and organisations, including ourselves, will benefit financially from saleable items.
The musical instruments will be used in performances in the wood and by the riverside in Andover, Appleshaw and Vernham Dean (see ‘Voices in Harmony’ and ‘Living by the Ash Tree Waters’).
