Ash Tree Stream Exhibition Tour


A tour of the Ash Tree Stream Exhibition, at CAS (Chapel Arts Studios) Andover in November 2020, with Artist James Aldridge.

Ash Tree Stream was an art and outdoor learning project led by James, working in partnership with Andover Trees United, CAS and 5 schools in the Andover area . This video was produced by our volunteers in April 2020 in our bid to become a part of GlobalGiving's 2020 Climate Action Fund cohort. Whilst we were not selected, we gained many positives from the experience, coming 8th out of 127 projects worldwide and raising over £6000! We would like to share our climate action vision with you here.

 

Flower Bed Storytime

“Meet Wendy from Andover Trees United. She and her team wanted to raise awareness of the importance of wildflowers in their local town. They managed to get permission to create a wildflower bed in the town centre - and the idea grew from there!

The wildflower bed ended up spending many more weeks in the town than expected, engaging thousands of people in the project!” - Grow Wild

 

Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots International peace day 2019

Coming together as others are doing the world over to mark this special day raises awareness of peace, reminds us that we are a community not just locally but globally and fills us with a sense of optimism, at a time when it is all too easy to feel overwhelmed by the many problems we see around us.

 

School visit to the Trinley Estate

School groups participate in woodland activity days on the Trinley Estate as part of our Six Trees & Six Flowers project. We are indebted to the Ernest Cook Trust for their funding award, which has made the appointment of our part-time project leader possible.

Capability Brown & The Birthday Tree 2016

Andover school pupils and students created a shortlist of favourite trees for planting in Harmony Woods in 2016 to mark Andover Trees United 5th, HM Queen Elizabeth II 90th & Capability Brown's 300th birthdays. Teams from 5 schools each championed a tree to persuade the panel of tree experts to select 'theirs' .

The storm eased and the lanterns processed to the wood for a magical hour of lantern light, tree dressing and carol singing before heading back to the shelter for hot chocolate, mulled wine and mince pies.

COMMUNITY ARCHAEOLOGY ‘BETWEEN THE BARROWS’ 2016

In Harmony Woods, there is a Bronze Age Burial site and several more not far away in the wider wood. Since 2016, Chris Elmer, lectures in Archaeology at the University of Southampton, has worked with us to put together a series of professional digs, open to the community, ‘Between the Barrows’.
