ROYAL RECOGNITION
Andover Trees United (ATU), a dedicated community organisation committed to environmental conservation and community engagement, has been bestowed with the prestigious King’s Award for Voluntary Service.
On Friday 19th April Andover Trees United volunteers were honoured to be awarded the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, by the Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, Nigel Atkinson ESQ. An award given to volunteer groups who have made an exceptional difference to their local community and the equivalent of an MBE for charities. This accolade recognises the exceptional contributions and impact that Andover Trees United has made through its various initiatives and projects.
80 people attended the celebration on the 19th, where the Lord-Lieutenant presented the group with the award in his capacity as the King’s representative. He officially opened the newly-constructed community ‘Cabin’, a testament to the hard work of the charity over the past 7 years, and presented more than 20 long-term dedicated volunteers with badges for their exemplary service to the charity. ATU is extremely proud of the commitment and dedication given by so many. Without all members of Andover Trees United, the charity would neither have been able to achieve so much, nor be in a position to continue its important work.
King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS)
The King’s Award for Voluntary Service is an annual award given to groups in the voluntary sector of the United Kingdom. It's a prestigious recognition bestowed upon organisations that have demonstrated exceptional dedication to voluntary work and community service. To be considered for the King’s Award, organisations must demonstrate a proven track record of volunteer engagement, impactful projects, and sustainable outcomes. Judges look for evidence of innovation, collaboration, and long-term commitment to making a lasting difference in the community. Once nominations are received, a panel of esteemed judges carefully evaluates each organisation's merits and assesses how well they align with the values and criteria of the King’s Award.
