Sunshine and Smiles at the Annual Andover Gardening Fair

On the 19th May 2024 Andover Trees United attended the Annual Gardening Fair in Andover’s Town Centre. It was a lovely day for the fair as the community gathered in large numbers to enjoy the diverse array of activities and offerings.

The Town Centre buzzed with excitement as visitors perused the extensive selection of plants available for purchase, set against the backdrop of live music that added a festive atmosphere to the event. Families and children particularly enjoyed petting the friendly goats and alpacas, while many delighted in getting their faces painted with colorful designs.

Our stall was dedicated to pricking out Red Campion seedlings. Enthusiastic gardeners and nature lovers stopped by to lend a hand and engage in conversations about the ambitious wildflower meadow planned for the Diamond Wood in the coming years. This initiative, aimed at enhancing local biodiversity, sparked considerable interest and support from the attendees.

Additionally, the stall provided an excellent opportunity for us to introduce many visitors to Andover Trees United, a community-based environmental organization. Volunteers shared our ongoing projects and extended invitations to the Voices in Harmony workshop and concert, hoping to foster greater community involvement and awareness about local conservation efforts.

The day was marked by a strong sense of community spirit and environmental stewardship, as people of all ages came together to celebrate nature and contribute to its preservation.
