We Love Wildflowers #GrowWildUK
It was a hive of activity on the tree and wildflower allotment on Saturday morning, as 20 volunteers of all ages met to continue the potting up of the 1000s of plug plants.
The plants have all been raised from seed by Andover Trees United volunteers plus children and young people from our 6 Trees and 6 Flowers schools as part of our #flowerbedstorytime community project, supported by Kew Gardens Grow Wild . Germination was much higher than expected and over 3000 plug plants had been pricked out, all of which were bursting at the roots and in need of growing out into larger pots, where they will remain until planting-in-the-wood day on September 21st.
Thanks to donations of pots from Rosy Hardy’s and Blakes Nurseries, we hope to be able to complete the potting up on Saturday 20th July. If you have a bit of time to spare, why not come and join in. The photos below give a flavour of what to look forward to. As one of last week’s volunteers described it. ‘Food for the soul’.
