What went on in September 2019: Fundraiser

The jam-packed month came to end with a big fundraising event on Saturday 28th. We had a wonderful evening of dancing, music, food and an auction of promises and we managed to raise an amazing £3000!

We would love to thank everyone involved: our volunteers for organising, those who generously donated promises, the donation of musical talents from Paul Sartin, Gill Corbett, Ian Woledge, Tom Hanley and Nina Smith, Gary Nunn for calling, Andover Central Club for donating their venue, Andover Buffet for the food, John Baxter for acting as auctioneer, the generous bidders and the guests who bought tickets – All of whom helped to make the event a great success!

The money will go towards the construction of an off-grid, sustainable, woodland classroom and community space in Harmony Woods. The completion of which will benefit all, providing a versatile space within a natural setting for local groups, schools, artists and craftspeople to use. Having a fully-functional shelter will enable us to offer more opportunities, workshops and events to the community, such as our summer play scheme that we ran for the first time this summer.

It also makes positive steps forward in the fight against climate change. The site will be able to connect members of the community with nature, which is essential in sparking an appreciation for the environment and hence a desire to protect it.

We have just had confirmation of planning permission, so now it’s all actions go! We need to raise £100K in total to build the space, and every little bit really does help! Saturday’s proceeds are a small step towards that goal and now we’re calling out to the community of Andover to help us make this happen.
