LulaJames Furniture

The One Ash project is a brilliant idea. We thoroughly enjoyed the felling day, its lovely atmosphere and the opportunity to meet so many different makers of all ages and walks of life.

We are Daisy Lula Brunsdon and Andrew James Joye, Rycotewood educated furniture makers with a passion for using solid temperate hardwoods. We began our small business Lula James in September 2019 and are currently residents at the Sylva Foundation in Long Wittenham. We take commissions for bespoke pieces as well as making a range of free-standing furniture and small craft objects.

We are in the process of designing a pair of dining chairs to make with the one ash timber. Ash steam bends particularly well; a process whereby the timber is made to be hot enough to become pliant. We are planning to celebrate this characteristic by making beautiful steambent back components.
