Les and I have been working hazel coppice since about 2000 so somewhat late starters in the woodland industry! Les was restoring furniture at our business in Gosport and as this declined we diverted into a different wood related business.

Initially a Forest of Bere project officer connected us with a local woodland owner who wanted his hazel coppice managed and we were cutting and producing a full range of products including charcoal. We have needed to reduce the amount we do so have moved on and nowadays we help a fellow coppice group member and woodland owner manage his small hazel coppice.

Les intends to make a hay rake and a gate hurdle from the ash. We will take pictures at various stages and might try a video.
